Our STEM workforce development initiative is a township and rural economic empowerment initiative designed to empower unemployed youths, particularly young women with in-demand STEM skills and mentorship to secure and retain decent jobs. Through this program participants gain foundational and associate-level industry certifications in fields such as computer programming, cloud computing, robotics, internet safety and computer networking. They also receive employment readiness training, on-the-job experience, and expert-led mentorship. As part of their training program, they will be placed in schools to work as STEM educator Assistants, supporting educators in delivering the coding and robotics curriculum at school level.
We have found that combining skill-building with impactful community service transforms young people into confident, purpose-driven individuals with a heightened sense of self-worth and a more optimistic outlook on life. This virtuous cycle of giving and gaining fosters holistic personal and professional growth necessary for creating, attracting, and retaining job opportunities that drive sustainable development.
